artist bio
My name is Suzy Hobbs and I am a resident of Asheville, North Carolina. I am a sculptor and public artist by trade and I am attempting to use my knowledge of public art, community development and the role of art in public perception to promote nuclear energy. I have been creating new atomic imagery since December 2008.
Recently I have been providing design work for pro-nuclear blogs, websites and energy companies. You can check out some of these images on the radioactive art page.
My long term goal for PopAtomic is to work in conjunction with power companies to provide public art and education outreach to communities housing new nuclear power plants.
other info about me:
•I am currently working with several other artists to set up PopAtomic Studios here in Asheville, NC
•I sincerely believe that atomic energy, along with every other sustainable option should be utilized as solutions to the economic, environmental, and energy crises.

I generally love the relationship between art and science. All of my work starts there.
FUN FACT:
20% of America’s electricity already comes from atomic energy.

If you are an artist and feel inspired to make some “pop atomic” art of your own please send me images to post on the site. Or if you want to participate in an experiment, or even just have a good story or question please contact me at:
